What is CrossFit?

CrossFit is a strength and conditioning programme utilising constantly varied, functional movements performed at a high intensity. At CrossFit Devil's Path we specialize in not specialising. All CrossFit workouts are completely scalable and can be embraced by anybody no matter what level of fitness they possess. For example a Nana will have relatively less fitness levels than a 20 year old football player; however they can still train alongside each other carrying out identical functional movement patterns with just the reps and loads changing.

 

At CrossFit Devils Path you will attain a broad, well rounded level of fitness and no matter what level you are starting from you will be trained as an athlete in order to reach fitness levels you never realised you could attain. You will become proficient in the following recognised physical skills.

Getting Started

If you’re interested in getting started at CrossFit Devils Path, then the best thing to do is come down to the box (CrossFit gyms are referred to as boxes) during an ‘open gym session’ and see what goes on. We’ll have a coffee, explain everything to you and answer any questions you may have. You will then have the opportunity to play with any of the equipment and watch an ongoing class. From here you can participate in a ‘FREE TASTER SESSION’ or alternatively book one for the following day/week.

 

‘ON RAMP’

The aim of the ON RAMP is to expose you to the 9 fundamental movements used in CrossFit and to work on your skill development. We will prepare you to enter the CrossFit classes knowing that you can confidently carry out the movement safely and efficiently.

The 9 fundamental movements of CrossFit are:

  • The Squat
  • The Front Squat
  • The Overhead Squat
  • The Press
  • The Push Press
  • The Push Jerk
  • The Sumo Deadlift High Pull
  • The Deadlift
  • The Medicine Ball Clean

These are just the fundamental movements; we will also be teaching you basic Gymnastic skills for midline stability, Olympic lifts, Plyo-metric skills like box jumping, skipping. A variety of these and more will be covered in ON RAMP and beyond. Click here to get in touch today…
